I hate you, I Love You, Beth Cooper. I hate you because you couldn't be any more half-hearted if you'd just had half your heart chopped out in a half-heart-ectomy by a surgeon who couldn't really be bothered doing it.

Reviews for I Love You, Beth Cooper
This appears too obviously the work of middle-aged men – director Columbus included – trying to regain past glories.
Most of the characters are one-sided and boring and the actors who play them are so bad the movie suffers for it.
In its best moments, [it] proves to be more knowing about relationships and love than most movies of its ilk, and for those moments, I would say it's worth your time.
Chris Columbus has fallen off the edge of the earth. His latest film is a misguided ship sailing among an increasingly rocky body of work.
Let me be clear here: I hated this movie. I hated it so much I couldn't even bring myself to laugh at how awful it was.
My problem with the film is that Larry Doyle (who also penned the screenplay) seems to have softened what his novel was fundamentally about.
Hayden Panettiere provokes many emotions as the title object of desire in Chris Columbus's dreadful teen romance. Love is not one of them.
I know it's totally irresponsible and not even well constructed or performed, but it's so wrong I found it strangely compelling.
Bland as the day is long, 'I Love You, Beth Cooper' seems to be a movie pretending to be a comedy. This high-school-graduation-night road trip has been done much, much more enjoyably before.
Mildly entertaining so let's say I liked but did not love "Beth Cooper"
Sign the pre-nup so you can get a refund at the box office. "I Love You, Beth Cooper" has a few moments, but mostly it fails to show us the love.
The story quickly -- and I mean quickly -- devolves into an unimaginative high school retread.
This is the worst version of Can't Hardly Wait imaginable. Denis shouldn't hang out with Beth. Beth shouldn't give Denis the time of day.
Silly, highly contrived and far from a classic, but it's ultimately a harmless comedic adventure with a terrific cast and plenty of mindless fun that should please its target audience: teenagers.
This movie, like the title character, is a tease that offers nothing new and original.
It just tries a little too hard. If the movie were a high school geek and the American audience were the prettiest cheerleader, this would not be a match.
