Yeah, I stopped reading after the author started raving about her performance in 'Crash'. That movie still gives me night terrors.

I hope she wins for her really weird accent and stupid blonde hair as well!

Just kidding, I'll wait to see the movie until I comment about how terrible her performance is.

I haven't seen any of her stinkers, but she seems pretty good in the movies I have seen her in. I'm not sure where you guys' negativity comes from.

Unless, of course, negativity is just the way you roll.

I guess if you're around long enough and take every part that's thrown your way, eventually you have to luck into something decent.

This movie has been done over a hundred times over; inspirational movies don't do it for me; true story or not!!!!!
Let's see, inspirational movies:
Basketball- "Hoosiers", "Hoop Dreams" etc...
Football-Brian's Song, Lucas, The Express, The Replacements, The Waterboy etc...
Hockey movies- Mystery Alaska, The Mighty Ducks etc...
Academic movies- Good Will Hunting, Lean On Me, Dead Poets Society etc...

I saw the commercials on TV on this movie, and it looks like it has cliche written all over it.

Pete Hammond wrote this review, and he always does this.

He loves having his name shown in trailers, etc. He seemingly loves EVERY movie. He labels something best film of the year about 20 times in any given year.

So yah, now he knows this idiotic article will again show his name on a DVD box, etc.

To Sum Up:

Pete Hammond can SUCK IT!

Considering the talent we have available today, Sandra Bullock is certainly worthy of Best Actress. Marilyn Monroe and Jane Mansfeild in 1959 are the Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock of 2009--stars/icons for an entire generation.

The quality of performances changes with each generation: Garry Cooper's not Sir Laurence Olivier in 1960 as Olivier was Best Actor of 1950 (perhaps]; yet in 1960, even though Olivier's and Cooper's "qualities" are totally unlike one another, Garry Cooper wins the Academy Award.

AND, think, in 1960 Denzel Washington, even though he's "A Best Actor" today, wouldn't even be Considered a Star alongside Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, or Gary Cooper in 1960. Yet in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, DENZEL's star shines brightly along with Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, Clarke Gable (even).

all the "yak," "yak," "yaking" aside . . . 2009 IS SANDRA BULLOCK'S year. Her carreer has spanned over 20 years so far and she's consistantly performed well in popular films.

No horror or Sci Fi films to speak of and only SPEED so she's not in my genres of focus: but I can Tell: SANDRA BULLOCK is totally Best Actress just by her consistantcy (spelling) and overall "likability" at the box office and with critics.

---Leave it to the Commenters at Rotten Tomatoes to "curse" Sandra Bullock and say "Sandra Bullock's a lousey actress" despite an abundence of FACTS pointing to the contrary.

"No horror or Sci Fi films to speak of" What about Murder by Numbers or The Vanishing? Those were (supposed to be) genuine horror flicks. Wait, I am trying to argue with Gordo? Nevermind. :)

Well, if she does get nominated, it wouldn't be the first time the Academy recognized someone that didn't deserve it while ignoring someone that does.

If Julia Roberts or Halle Berry can win, I see no reason why Bullock can't.

For the record, I don't necessarily mean that either Berry or Roberts are bad actresses, or that Bullock is a good one. Just that I wouldn't consider any of them Oscar material in general, but one really good performance is all it takes. Don't count out Bullock based on her past. I haven't seen the movie in question, but I can believe that she's capable of an Oscar-worthy performance, if the role is right.
