Need to run all 3 starting midnight Oct 31st. Get all the hardcore fans out and leave the numbskulls who don't know you don't bring your kids to a movie called "evil dead" at home.

Joe N,

I agree! I'm underwhelmed by this. . . it won't be showing anywhere near me.

Sigh.

and I like part II a lot better.

Yes, even though I enjoyed the first two and the third one is only great when you watch it with the Rifftrax commentary.

Some cry for a reboot for Spider-Man but there's already one, The Spectacular Spider-Man; please people, buy the season one on DVD or iTunes so Disney can green-lit season 3. This show has already proven to be better in story, action, and characters(Especially Venom) than the movies.

As a general rule of thumb, it seems like most animated series are better than their film counterparts(X-men, Transformers, GIJoe, Superman, even Batman to an extent.)

Which leads me to my next question, when are we going to get an Evil Dead themed cartoon? I could totally watch a cartoon based on the adventures of ash.

I thought that this was the announcement of the long awaited remake of the Evil Dead series. (wich I think is a bad idea, but w/e)

I was sweetly suprised to discover that I will be experiencing the Evil Dead on the big screen sometime in 2010.

This is probably a better idea than any of the adaptation/reboot/sequel rumors that have been circling the franchise for the last few years.

Why doesn't Hollywood do this more often? What would make a studio more profit, another Saw sequel or re-releasing a movie like Jaws or Close Encounters for a limited run on the big screen?

Everybody lives either near New York, Philadelphia, or LA.

I've seen EVIL DEAD in the theater three times already.

Any fan who hasn't seen EVIL DEAD in the theater is nuts.

I mean C'MON: www.EXHUMEDFILMS.COM screens films in 35MM right here in Philadelphia (only two hours from WASHINGTON, DC and NEW YORK)

and GRINDHOUSE itself screens films in Los Angeles.

Where the heck does everybody live around here, anyway?
Omaha
or some place

ARE YOU GUYS AMERICANS?

EVIL DEAD and many "old movies" screen all over the country.

ZOMBIE played in Richmond, VA in September.

(that's another strange thing around here at Rotten Tomatoes--nobody's seen EVIL DEAD in 35mm. when everyone MUST live within some decent radius of Philly, LA, NYC, or San Francisco).

NOBODY lives in places other than the coastal regions. . . . except old people and Republicans.

ha-ha-ha (of course)

Take the guy who lives in Las Vagas--only gambling-addicts and prostitutes and "Native Americans" would live around Las Vagas.
nothing but gambling exists in Las Vagas.

right?

AMERICA only is truely AMERICA in the North East, Florida, and California . . .
I've been to places outside of the above areas and clearly there must be "Multiple Americas"
I remember saying in Sounth Carolina once, "Is this America?"
South Carolina is sooooo different from here (Philadelphia) that both South Carolina AND Pennsylvania CANNOT both be considered AMERICA.

Sam Raimi needs to make a deal with REGAL and AMC theaters to release EVIL DEAD trans-nationally.

I saw FACES OF DEATH 4 in Florence, South Carolina when FACES OF DEATH 4 was not playing theatrically in Philadelphia.

SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 was playing in Chicago and not in Philadelphia; even though I was in Chicago I was like "NO WAY" to seeing SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT 2 anywhere.

Yes he should have not made any movies and just played movies at the theater that people have seen hundreds of times. Congratulations you have won dumbest post on Rotten Tomatoes.

Uh, woundedmakers, Evil Dead *was* originally X-rated; the NC-17 rating only came about in 1990. But yeah, I'm not sure two sequels really qualifies as 'several', so I'm with you there.

Gordon, I'm not sure whether you're joking or not due to your bizarre way of expressing yourself, but in case you're serious, I can assure you not everyone here lives near New York, Philadelphia or LA, and no we're not all American.

As it happens, I have seen Evil Dead in theatres, my local theatre often does midnight screenings of old classics, which I truly appreciate. I wasn't born yet when Evil Dead or Ghostbusters came out, and I was too young to see RoboCop, but I've been able to see all three of them in the past year on the big screen, which is awesome. I agree with everybody who thinks this sort of thing should happen more often. I'd rather see some older movies that I missed the first time around in theatres than most of the new junk coming out. I'd be absolutely thrilled to see the likes of The Terminator, Conan the Barbarian, Excalibur, Aliens, Highlander, Predator, Rocky, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard, The Untouchables, The Road Warrior... hell, the list could go on forever. I think there could be a serious market for re-releasing older movies. I suppose the main obstacle to such a thing is rights issues and royalties and other such legal nuances.
