Five Favourite Films with 24's Carlos Bernard
Tony Almeida himself chats Season 7 with RT.
24 star Carlos Bernard is one of the show's few fixtures. With all the double-crossings, cliff-hangers and back-stabbings, it's a wonder anyone has survived from the first season, but his character Tony Almeida was an integral part of the season just aired, the seventh in the show's run. All indications suggest that he'll be back in a big way for Day 8, set to kick off in January.
The actor came to London this week to promote the DVD release of the Season 7 - also available on Blu-ray for the first time - and RT sat down with him to guage his five favourite films, talk about the show and do our best to learn all we could about Day 8. We failed spectacularly on the latter point, for he chose instead to invent an plot implausible even by 24 standards, but read on for the rest...

on Oct 23 2009 02:57 PM That's not a bad top 5, at least for a Hollywood only list. You can tell Tony likes his iconic actors like Pacino, Newman and company (no Jack Nicholson?), which isn't very surprising. I guess people just respect the top performers in their business. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2009 05:03 PM I'm going to go right ahead and finally get this off my chest. Gladiator is a terrible terrible film. I remember when I first saw it back in 2000 I thought it was abysmal. Indecipherable action sequences, a rote story, a lead performance consisting of Russell Crowe staring wistfully off into the distance for two hours, and just a ludicrous plot. It felt like a very poor man's spartacus. Then the oscars rolled around and I was stunned that it was nominated for anything. I mean seriously, this was before I followed movies closely and my jaw dropped. I've tried to give it a chance in the decade since. Everyone I know loves it and I've ended watching it many more times than I should have and it still hasn't grow on me. I completely cant comprehend anyone who says anything positive about that film. I don't like it and I'm sure I never will. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 24 2009 10:37 PM In reply to this comment (#2555642) @King Kubrick You can hate Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" all you want as that's your own personal opinion & taste BUT just because you think it's a "terrible" film doesn't mean it actually is. I could go through a lot of clarification on why the film is actually a marvelous film but I'm not going to get into all that heavy entailment through the film's pillar configuration & the film's elements (which there are 25 elements in filmmaking.) I'm just saying Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" isn't technically "terrible" film by any means. (Reply to this) |
