Picture Gallery of the Week: The Road

The Road is finally nearing its end. Countless delays hasn't hurt The Road's considerable buzz, and right now it's pulling a strong mid-80s Tomatometer. This new batch shows off the incredible scenes of decay and destruction, along with images of peace before the world ended.. Browse the gallery.

Poster of the Week: Defendor

I feel like I'm pretty burnt out on superheroes. But I thought the same on the subject of zombies, but Zombieland was still awesome. There's an upcoming wave of caustic superhero flicks, such as Kick-Ass and Defendor, and here's hoping they execute their high concepts well enough to shake off the genre's stagnancy. Video of the Week: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time trailer

The first Prince of Persia trailer is out and it's...pretty good? Servicable? Awesome? Gemma Arterton's narration is a lot of exposition for what seems like a simple "go from location A to location B" plotline (in that sense, Prince of Persia does feel like a video game turned into a movie). Watch the video.

The Road- another adaption of McComack's novel may be worth noting.

Can't wait for "The Road." John Hillcoat (The Proposition) is a great up-coming filmmaker. It will definitely be one of the best films this year.

The "Prince of Persia" film looks decent. Still waiting for a GREAT video game film.

halo the move will be awesome ledawg and gears of war the movie.

anywys im actually surprised that 2012 is getting positive reviews, a 80%..but at the same time, astor boy was getting a 100%, and went down to a 48% so we'll see if it manages to be as entertaining as they say.

im ttly gonna watch 2012,the road, and maybe prince of persia if it gets
goodreviews.

Yeah "Halo" should be great. But I'm still very iffy about "Gears of War".

Welcome to the new epic hero%u2019s quest to transport a magical item to a destination that will neutralize its magical power. It seems that this movie does not have an original thought in its head and that is just from the trailer. You can even see where they ripped off other video games at the 25 second mark. It is a blatant rip off of Assassins Creed%u2026. And can we PLEASE stop using Jerry Bruckheimer as a selling point. I have never been halfway through a trailer though %u201Cthis sucks%u201D then saw the big JB%u2019s name and then thought but I will see it anyway.

Jake Gyllenhaal as the new action hero%u2026. Not buying it. Gay cowboys do not make action heros.

Having said all that, and to completely contradict everything, I will probably see this movie.

Yeah, because Heath Ledger was a terrible Joker. Seriously though, who cares if he played a gay man?

Gyllenhaal has got to be the least masculine action hero ever, even over Tobey. The thought of him giving a battle cry (or being PERSIAN...) is laughable. The effects and obligatory hot ethnic women may make it worth a look though.

Okay, he is too white to be the "Prince of Persia". But he's tougher than Tobey. That dude is a puss.

I was ready for the Heath Ledger counter example. Yes he was very good, but he was a villan. Gay cowboys make great villans, not heros.

I really dont care that he played a gay man. Just a joke.

I haven't played Prince of Persia, but a lot of the shots looked like they came from Assassin's Creed...

Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed are actually very similiar games, but Prince of Persia came first, so to say that Prince of Persia is ripping off Assassin's Creed is just laughable.

Price of Persia may have came first, and if I was talking just about the video games I would agree that it would be impossible for the Prince of Persia series to rip off Assassins Creed.

However I am talking about Prince of Persia the movie that has come out after Assassins Creed, and I think that that shot of Jake Gyllenhaal swan diving off the edge of that plank reminded me of a similar action that can be done in Assassins Creed.

I still think the marketing for The Road has been some of the worst in recent memory. All the trailers (and even the posters) attempt to strike different tones, yet none of those remotely match what the book was. It makes it seem like the movie doesn't know what the hell it's doing, when in reality it's just studio people not wanting to be honest about the bleakness contained in the film. All this "epic journey" to find "hope" nonsense rings hollow even in a two minute trailer. No Country For Old Men didn't have to artificially inject optimism into its marketing, so I don't understand why The Road is being given such treatment.

im definitely more optimisitc for prince of persia and im big fan of the game. The moves were definitely very prince of persia esque. i felt this always had a strong story to make a video game although i thought they left out core elements from the original that would of made it even better, although the second one i feel would make a better translation than the first. I just cant see gears of war being a good movie translation. Halo i think would be if its done right.
