Anybody plan on checking out this V redo?

I caught most of the original miniseries on SyFy this past weekend, and I thought it was a fairly enjoyable slice of cheese. I'm not quite sure what to make of this newest iteration, but the original has some pretty intriguing themes that I think could make for some pretty exciting exploration in an expanded series. Also, it really couldn't hurt to revisit a project like this with some modern effects seeing as that the original's biggest flaws seem to be its rather blaring, outdated effects.

For those of you that have seen the original- could someone fill me in on the final part of the Final Battle? I had to tune out after the birth of the lizard baby because of viewing obligations with Dexter and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I kind of regret having to miss the conclusion after watching the other 80% or so of the series.

I'm getting some minor Bionic Woman vibes from the ads, and certainly the weird scheduling stuff isn't a good sign, but I'll definitely check out the pilot at least.

After the disappointment that is flashforward, and the fact that I really enjoyed the miniseries when it originally aired (although I was really young), I'm hoping this will be good.

me too.

I'm sure we had great taste when we were kids. Yeah.

I wonder if they will do the classic scene with the rat?

I remember I saw the original when I was very young, so I am eager to see this news series. However, I'd like to revisit the original first.

Since no one else answered Ape's question:

(and I'm remembering this from 20 years ago, so bare with me)

The girl gives birth to fraternal twins. The boy, which looks like a lizard, dies immediately. The girl ages rapidly and I think she becomes something like an 8 year old girl in a matter of weeks.

In the meantime, the resistance plants a story with one of the human sympathizers about attacking Visitor bases. With the Visitors occupied elsewhere, the Resistance, led by Michael Ironside and his gigantic brass balls, attack the Visitors mothership with "red dust" which is lethal to them. The red dust gets into the atmosphere and starts killing the Visitors War of the Worlds-style.

On the mothership, Diana tries to set off a doomsday device. The Resistance and the friendly visitors are unable to stop her and she escapes back to the Visitor homeworld. But the Visitor/human hybrid uses some sort of superhuman abilities she has to stop the doomsday device and save the day.

You can probably get a more in-depth description from Wikipedia or some such place.

I'm still debating if I'm going to watch the new one. The chick they got to be the leader-type can't hold a candle to the smokin' brunette who was Diana.

So odd. . I didn't even realize it was a remake until this weekend. I was in bed almost all day (sick) when I caught the original as it was starting. . though I dozed off when it was near the end I think :XThat more than anything has made me want to see the remake, to compare and contrast I guess and I find the original kind of interesting. . either way, the previews of the show do look kinda bad. . but I'll watch the pilot

Loved the original. Very pessimistic about the new series, but I'll give it a chance.

BEASTMASTER!!

Yeah, I loved the original and am looking forward to this one.

Did anyone else watch Earth: Final Conflict? It reminded me of V a lot and the first few seasons were pretty good.

I would put it slightly ahead of Flashforward's pilot, but it was still full of problems.

Yup, slightly better than Flashforward but definitely some problems:

- Fairly flat characters at this point.
- Some awkward attempts at being current ("You're talking about... universal health care.")
- I don't know why they had to give Elizabeth Mitchel a douche bag for a son, or why he needed a friend who is also a douche bag.

Could you care to explain a bit more? I've never really kept up with any TV show since Six Feet Under (even though Scrubs is my favorite show, I never started watching it until earlier this year) so I'm pretty rusty on critiquing them, V looked extremely promising on commercials and I really enjoyed the pilot episode.

I was impressed with the first episode, I know the plot is very predictable and such, but it seems like it will be a very thrilling sci-fi series mixed with the typical detective-esque theme that has dominated this decade. I was very excited to see Alan Tudyk on the show, but disappointed that he's only going to be in two episodes (at least thus far). Also was a pleasant surprise to see Keith from Six Feet Under in the cast as well.

I fairly enjoyed the pilot. I'll be tuned in next Tuesday. I haven't seen the original series, so I'm going into this not knowing anything.

ABC's trying really hard to fill the Lost void. Monaghan in FF and Mitchell in V.

A few problems I had:
Select the black box below with your cursor to view the spoiler text
The acting is all over the map
The pointless attempts at relevancy
The son
Pacing seemed problematic, they went through Visitor's arrive-->Alien Sleeper Cell--->Resistance time, baby! in record time

It wasn't terrible, I'll keep watching, but it still felt off.

It was good enough, I thought they gave away a hell of a lot for a pilot episode, but that's a good thing. Better done than Flash Forward, slightly better characters.

I actually enjoyed the pilot enough. . and feel that it has the potential to be a decent show and probably better than Flashforward (which I've lost all hope for at this point ) but. .

Select the black box below with your cursor to view the spoiler text
Those problems listed were the same problems I had. . especially the last bit. .

I wish they wouldn't rush through things, I mean I understand they want to get people into the show. . but I that if they'd focused on the first couple weeks or however long after the visitors arrived instead of jumping three weeks afterwards. . I might have found that more interesting. Just focusing on the aliens arrival and all that. . because the whole jump to the rebellion already? Just seemed so abrupt

Course, I'll keep watching. .
