Have you heard the Owl City song "FIreflies"?

I'd like to be the first to congratulate JRSly on his recording career.

It sounds like he ate a rainbow unicorn and, a few hours later, this came out.

Between this and that horrible Lights person, Canadian New Wave inspired pop is getting a bad rap.

Everyone should go buy the new You Say Party! We Say Die! album to hear it done right.

I heard this album back in April when the station I worked for got it. Hated it then, still hate it now.

JRSly is way better than Fireflies. Owl City is terrible, everything down to the hilariously pretentious song titles.

I do not understand why Mr. J.R. Sly is the person who immediately springs to mind upon hearing this neo-new wave techno dream pop twee rock anti-folk fusion. Mr. J.R. Sly is a virile, fully-formed adult human man with great upper body strength and the capacity to move considerable amounts of furniture, including up and down multiple sets of stairs. His lats are most likely bulging and do not even get me started on his quads. He has a deep, booming voice, not this tweenybopper pre-puberty boybot with tight pants and ambiguous sexuality, whose only concern in life is whether his ironic t-shirt has enough unicorns on it. If Mr. J.R. Sly made music, it would most likely be speed metal of the most face-melting variety. I shudder to even consider the hearing loss you would suffer if he used those ripped deltoids to bash out a thumping beat on a drum kit. I shudder.

Hey, if starting and finding some success with a musical career is what I have to do to get Poop back to General Discussion, it was worth the colossal mess I've made of my life.

It's the hair and the toys.

Definitely the toys.

I could have sworn this was the singer from Death Cab for Cutie, and I am shocked to find that it's not.

They sound nothing alike. The lead singer of The Postal Service maybe...

Ben Gibbard is the lead singer of both Postal Service and Death Cab.

And Owl City seems to get a lot of (half-deserved) hate from the States. But he's developing quite a cult following in Wellington due to my friends and I playing it at our respective workplaces. All the Kiwis freakin love it.

My sarcasm meter is at 87%.

Either way, Owl Fucker and Ben Gibbard do not sound alike,

However, everything else about Owl Town sounds like warmed-over Postal Service.

Hey now, it's Owl CITY. We need to be clear, or else we might start calling him Owl Ville, or Owl Hamlet.

Yeah.

If the conversation took place in person, you would have made that joke, and I would laughed a little bit, pretending to know what you were talking about, but you would see through my farce. You wouldn't say anything though because you're a sweet man.
